What's your favorite cast-on method for toe up socks? Thanks to Heather for the advice, i'm looking to find one that makes sense to me so I can get practicing and knit my next pair of socks from the toe up. Especially now that I have a new colorway of yarn i'm just dying to try out.
Post in the comments please. Links also appreciated ... now that I have broadband and all. :)

Judy's magic cast-on from Knitty is my favorite--hands down. I recently discovered knitting toe-up, 2-at-a-time, magic loop using Silver's Sock Class (http://www.cometosilver.com/socks/2mlsocks_start.htm) The socks go slower, but when I'm done I'll have 2 instead of one. I have a lot of single socks in my drawer....
ReplyDeleteI second Judy's magic cast-on. I'd tried the magic loop/crazy 8/whatever it's called, and it just wasn't working for me - too much tightening on dpns after-the-fact. But Judy's is THE BEST, the instructions are brilliant, and it's pretty much no-fail (after some practice, for me at least)...

Have fun!
I may be alone in saying, but mine is the figure-8 cast on, about half-way down this page:

Whatever you choose, good luck! Keep us posted on progress!
I love the magic cast on, too. I used to do Turkish cast on before I learned the magic.
