A Good Sunday

Well I finally made it to the Stitch 'N Bitch in Gainesville yesterday. My accupuncturist told me about it months ago and I wish I had gone sooner. Those ladies are awesome. I'm not usually comfortable in new social settings but I really needed a break from Lake City life, even if just for a couple of hours, so off I went. And don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but they have been a handful and a half lately and I feel like i've been a single parent for a couple of weeks now as Brett has been working his tail off. So Brett came home from work yesterday (yes i know it was sunday) for a few hours so I could go knit. I could definitely get used to having a sunday afternoon outing to Gainesville every week sans babies. I listened to a book on CD on the way there and back which i'm really enjoying. I'm listening to The Secret Life of Bees. (Thanks for the recommendation Heidi) And while I would rather read than listen, the kids just aren't up for allowing me to have my nose in a book much lately and the chick that is reading this book to me is very entertaining.

I've recently discovered a way to get some peace in the afternoon. I've been borrowing books on CD from the library and every afternoon around naptime I load the boys up in the Pathfinder, load a book on CD into the disc changer, and off we go driving around for an hour or so. There are a lot of great back country roads around here that offer some great scenery. And you never know what you're going to come across as far as wildlife and livestock goes. I've seen ostriches and zebras even. Craziness.

Well speaking of Gainesville, we're headed that way today for Brody's eight month check-up so I better go get us all ready.

  1. We were so glad you came down to SnB! You're a load of fun and are going to fit right in with us (as long as we don't scare you off, har har). Maybe next time you can get down here for it, we can meet up beforehand for brunch, make your drive just a little more worth-while...? :-)
